Princess and Chef

My little Princess.

Whenever I take Allary to the library, I ask her, "What kinds of books do you want today?" I can usually expect her to answer something along the lines of princess, kitties, bunnies, etc. This week when I asked her, she said, "Bananas!" (?) Okay, bananas. I entered it in the search criteria and found a few. Who knew?

This book is called "Gladys Goes Out to Lunch." It's a cute story about a gorilla who loves bananas. One day she smells something yummy, so she decides to leave the zoo and go out to lunch. When she finally finds the smell, it is banana bread. The book then includes a recipe for banana bread. Every time we read the story, Allary tells me, "I love banana bread Mom. I want some!" My poor child has a mother who does not bake. So, for the first time ever (yes ever), I made banana bread today. Allary helped, of course. Besides burnt edges, it actually turned out okay and it turned out to be a really fun thing for us to do together.

Kids are so funny when they get to help cook. Bryson LOVES to help me make anything. Next time, try putting chocolate chips in the banana bread. It may not be as "healthy", but boy is it good! ;-) (Of course I just like anything w/ chocolate!)
