Bubbles!

Okay so I was in a bad mood tonight, just tired and cranky and trying to get Allary to hurry up and get ready for bed. She is the master of dragging things out. I was filling up the tub and cleaning up her bedroom while she went in to get ready for her bath and when I came back in the bathroom she had dumped over half of her bottle of bubble bath into the tub. Already grumpy and impatient, I yelled at her for doing so. (dumb, I know.) Usually she likes to have some bubbles in the bath but freaks out if any of them actually touch her. So I put her in the bubbly bath and figured, serves you right. She just kind of sat there, bewildered as the bubbles continued to multiply and rise around her. I left for a minute and came back to find her having all kinds of fun with bubbles all over her head and face. My grumpiness melted away and I just had to laugh... and get the camera.

She is still sick, but doesn't seem to be coughing near as much as before, thank goodness. I'm just hoping that she sleeps through the night tonight. So far, it's not looking so good considering it's 10:00pm and I can't get her to go to sleep! Oh man, good thing she's such a sweet kid. :)

I Feel Helpless....and Exhausted

What in the world can you do for a 3 year old with a cough??? I asked this of the pharmacist earlier this evening and was basically told, "nothing, just lots of fluids and try a humidifier." Ugh. Allary's cough is so yucky and nasty and frequent that we are both miserable. Neither of us are sleeping well. I've tried everything, every home remedy I've heard of... a humidifier, a spoonful of honey before bed, Vicks vapor rub on her chest and even on the bottoms of her feet. I'm scared to death to give her any cough medicine because of the newest restrictions and freaky news reports. I scoured the store for anything to treat a cough for children under six and came up empty. What do I do???

"The Wednesday Letters"

I read "The Wednesday Letters" by Jason F. Wright a while ago and really liked it. I wrote down a quote I really liked from the book and just barely found it today when I was cleaning out my desk. I thought it was post-worthy.

"Mom and Dad learned to ask of Him. They asked often which course in life was correct. Sometimes those prayers were met with silence. At those times it was because they already knew which path was right for them at that time and place. Other times they were guided to decisions unimaginable beforehand. Those are the ones they've been blessed for. The easy decisions bring short term relief and satisfaction, don't they?... The tough decisions bring everlasting joy. They bring forgiveness. His, yours, mine. The tough decisions bring life."

"My-lando"

Trisha reminded me in her comment on my last post of another funny thing Allary said a while back. I should also mention that Allary probably knows of Las Vegas because Jason has been there a few times lately on business trips. Anyhow, a while ago when Jason was on one of his trips, Trisha and I were having lunch and I was trying to get Allary to tell Trisha where Jason was.
Me: "Allary, where is Daddy? Did he go to Orlando?"
Allary: "No, he's not in Orlando, he's in My-lando!"

Destined to Elope???

Last night as I was getting Allary ready for bed, I was trying to get her to sing some songs they are learning in Primary. It is nearly impossible to get Allary to sing a specific song, she would rather make up her own. So, I was trying to get her to sing "I Love to See the Temple" and she says "No Mom, I like it like this." And then she sings this (to the tune of "I Lived in Heaven"):
"I love Las Vegas, I love Las Vegas it's true. Live there and love there and I really love it you know!"
WHAT??? I was laughing so hard. :) I don't even know where she heard of Las Vegas! Oh boy.

Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's House

Last week, Jason was out of town again, and so Allary and I took the opportunity to drive down to my mom and dad's house for a few days. We really had a lot of fun. We went shopping and out to eat and Allary loved all the attention from Grandma and Grandpa and doing things with them like coloring, playing games, and wrestling with Grandpa.
The weather was so beautiful while we were there. We even went to the park one afternoon. Here are some pictures.

Look at that beautiful desert landscape and pretty blue skies.

The sun was in her eyes. I think this picture is so funny.

We also took Allary to the children's museum. They had a new dinosaur exhibit which I thought was really cute and fun.

This is Allary being a paleontologis /rock star at the Design-a-Dino station. She is playing the dino leg like a guitar.

Here she is digging for dino bones.

And here she is using the joysticks to make the dinosaur move. Pretty cool.

Allary and Grandpa coloring together. If Allary had someone to color with all day, she would be in heaven.

Thanks Mom and Dad for letting us come. We had a great time!
